Laleham is a village in the district Spelthorne the county of Surrey in South East England .

The " historical town of Chertsey " ( the historical town of Chertsey ) is to be found opposite on the other side of the Thames , one reaches it over the Chertsey Bridge . The lock Penton Hook Lock is on the northern edge of the village.

history

The name of Laleham probably comes from the old word “lael”, which means something like “branch”, Wasserau (English water meadow ) or village. Records from the 10th century mention the village. And also in the Domesday Book of 1086 the village is mentioned under the name Leleham . Originally Laleham was part of Middlesex County .

In Laleham there is a wildlife park called Laleham Park , which is located pretty much directly on the Thames .
