Laura Malaika lives in Erfurt and started for the BRC 05 Friedrichroda . She started skeleton in 2007 and took part in her first national races in 2008, including the pre-run German Championship in 2009 . At the DM in Winterberg she took 12th place. At the start of the 2009/10 season , Malaika made her international debut in the European Skeleton Cup . Already in her first race in Königssee she reached a top ten place in seventh place. It was used in all eight races and achieved five single-digit results. The best results were three fifth places in Königssee and Altenberg . In the overall ranking, the former Oberhof woman took sixth place. Also in the 2010/11 season she took part in races of the European Cup and achieved her best result in the first race in Cesana Pariol with fifth place. A day later she was able to place third place behind Jacqueline Lölling and Tina Hermann in a German fourfold triumph for the first time on the podium.
