Lambert Hastenrath

Lambert Hastenrath (born February 21, 1815 in Ratheim near Hückelhoven , † May 2, 1882 in Burtscheid near Aachen ) was a German portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Hastenrath studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1830/1831 . There he was a student of the portrait painter Heinrich Christoph Kolbe . He then worked as a drawing teacher in Valkenburg aan de Geul , where Charles Quaedvlieg was one of his students. He later settled as a portrait painter in Aachen, and finally in Burtscheid, where he died at the age of 67. Hastenrath mainly painted portraits, which he executed in oil, watercolor and chalk.

Hastenrath was one of the shareholders of Phoenix AG .
