Lammar Wright junior

Lammar Wright junior (born September 28, 1927 in Kansas City , Missouri , † July 8, 1983 in Los Angeles ) was an American jazz trumpeter .

Lammar Wright junior is the son of trumpeter Lammar Wright senior (1907–1973), who u. a. played in the orchestra of Cab Calloway , and brother of Elmon Wright (1929-1984), who was also a trumpeter. Lammar Wright began his career with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra at the age of 16 . He played in the following years with Dizzy Gillespie , Charlie Barnet and Stan Kenton ; also in the early 1950s in the backing bands of rhythm and blues musicians Wynonie Harris and Esther Phillips . As a studio musician he also worked for Otis Redding , The Coasters and, most recently, in 1983 for Herbie Hancock ( Future Shock ).
