Lamproplax picea is a bug fromthe Rhyparochromidae family .

features

The bugs are 4.0 to 5.1 millimeters long and have a shiny dark brown body. The front half of the pronotum is smooth, the back half has a dense, point-like structure. The thighs ( femora ) of the forelegs have two fine thorns and the fourth segment of the antennae is rather pale in color, especially towards the tip. There are animals with brachypteren, i.e. shortened, and macropteren, i.e. fully developed wings.

distribution and habitat

The species is distributed in Europe from the Alpine region to the south of Scandinavia and the British Isles. In the east, the distribution extends to northern and central Russia. Since the species is common in the north and in the Alps, a boremontane distribution center is assumed. In Germany it is rare everywhere, although most of the evidence is available from the lowlands of northern Germany and around the Alps. There is also isolated evidence from the low mountain ranges. The species is also rare in Austria and only sporadically proven from the Alps.

The animals colonize acidic, moist to wet soils in open habitats such as B. raised or fens, or partially shaded habitats such. B. Alder fragments, preferably with woody vegetation. They live among heather ( Calluna vulgaris ), heather ( Erica ), blueberries ( Vaccinium ) and crowberry ( Empetrum ) or sedges . One finds there very hidden in moss beds of peat moss ( Sphagnum ) and Widertonmoosen ( Polytrichum ) or in the leaf litter.

Way of life

Only rarely can Imagines watch when climbing up on the plants. The nymphs are found in June and July, from August the adults of the new generation appear, which finally overwinter.
