Lampshade was a Danish-Swedish band from Malmö that was formed in 2000. The band combined different styles of rock in their music. In addition to singer / songwriter influences , elements of post rock , slowcore and later also pop were anchored in the sound. The music magazine Eclipsed called this mixture Artrock , the musicians themselves described their style, which was characterized primarily by a combination of powerful guitar sounds with acoustic instruments such as horns and strings, "Beautiful Noise". The voice of the lead singer Rebekkamaria was also remarkable, who was said to have a similar sound to the "young Björk ".

Band history

The band was founded in 2000 by Johannes Dybkjær Andersson, initially without any ambitions for a professional career. Shortly thereafter, the singer (never mentioned by name in retrospect) left the group and was replaced in 2001 by Rebekkamaria Andersson, who the remaining members met at a punk festival in Norway . The band took on almost all the tasks such as merchandising , management and production themselves. The sound engineer for the first album, Erik Nylén, joined them as a member shortly after the release.

After recording the debut "Because Trees Can Fly", Lampshade signed a deal with Glitterhouse Records , a German independent record company . In February 2009 Lampshade announced that the tour through Europe that had just begun would be their farewell tour, as the individual musicians wanted to devote themselves more to their solo projects, especially as these promised to be a greater commercial success.

Solo projects

Several members have their own projects: Adam Jacobsson and Henric Claesson play in This Is Head , the latter also in Housewifelovers . Rebekkamaria Andersson achieved great success with the electro-pop band As In Rebekkamaria , but then went on a solo path, which - after a break in which she worked as a nurse - in a duet with the Hymns from Nineveh member Jonas Petersen as Rebekka Maria & The Hymnboy flowed. Here she interprets songs from her entire career, including Lampshade pieces.
