State student representative

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A state student representation in Germany is an association of student representations in a federal state to represent common interests vis-à-vis the state government and state legislature. In some states ( Brandenburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Saxony , Thuringia ), these representations in State Higher Education Act codified compulsory; Rhineland-Palatinate and Saxony-Anhalt also provide for the possibility of their formation. In the other federal states, these associations exist on a voluntary basis. There are currently no state student representatives in Bremen, Hamburg and Saarland.

In the western German federal states, these associations are traditionally referred to as the state ASten conference (LAK) or meeting (LAT).
