Luigi Perenni

Luigi Perenni or Prenn , actually Alois Prenn (born June 6, 1913 in Kiens , † August 28, 1943 in Cervinia ), was an Italian skier and officer .

Life

Luigi Perenni is the Italianized name of Alois Prenn under fascism . Perenni grew up in Innichen ( South Tyrol ). He was a member of the mountain school of the Italian armed forces founded in 1934 , the Scuola Militare di Alpinismo , from which today's Centro Addestramento Alpino emerged . Today the "Luigi Perenni" barracks in Courmayeur bears his name.

In August 1943 he died, with the rank of lieutenant , in an accident while climbing in Cervinia.

His brother Giovanni Perenni (aka Johann Prenn) was also a successful skier.

Successes (selection)

Perenni was at the Winter Olympics in 1936 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , nor as Sergente , member of the Italian winning team in the competition demonstration military patrol , where he together with Enrico Silvestri , Stefano Sertorelli and Sisto Scilligo won gold.

In the military patrols held as demonstration competitions as part of the Nordic World Ski Championships , he reached fourth place in Zakopane in 1939 together with Giuseppe Fabre , Refreider and Benedetti , and third in 1941 together with Achille Compagnoni , Maurizio Celeste and Giovani Fantoni .

As a member of the Italian military, he won the bronze medal in 18 km cross-country skiing in the context of the Italian championship in 1933 . He also won various Italian championship titles in cross-country skiing and in combination between 1938 and 1941. In 1936 he won the Trofeo Mezzalama with Francesco Vida and Carlo Ronc and in 1937 with Giuseppe Fabre and Anselmo Viviani .
