The State Association for Renewable Energies NRW (LEE NRW) is an interest group of companies , associations and individuals promoting the expansion of renewable energies in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Task and position
Based on the model of corresponding umbrella organizations in the European Union ( European Renewable Energies Federation ) and at the federal level ( Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie ), the LEE NRW represents the renewable energy industry on the North Rhine-Westphalian state level to politics, the media and the public.
The association is committed to establishing an environmentally friendly, safe, inexpensive and decentralized energy supply in the long term, which is based 100 percent on renewable energies in all sectors ( electricity , heat and transport) .
The LEE proactively supports the expansion of photovoltaics , wind energy , bioenergy , hydropower and geothermal energy in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The regional association for renewable energies in North Rhine-Westphalia includes five regional associations ( Düsseldorf / Ruhr , Cologne / Rhineland , East Westphalia , South Westphalia and Münsterland ), which are committed to the energy transition at the regional level.
The chairman of the LEE NRW has been Reiner Priggen since December 2016 , who was among other things part of the Commission for Economy, Structural Change and Employment (" coal commission ") of the BMWi .
Christian Mildenberger has been the new managing director of LEE NRW since October 1, 2019 .
