Reiner Priggen (born February 4, 1953 in Sögel , Lower Saxony ) is a German politician of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party , was chairman of the Greens in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and has been chairman of the lobby organization of the state association for renewable energies NRW (LEE NRW) since 2016 .

education and profession

After graduating from the Wilhelm-Hittorf-Gymnasium in Münster in 1972, Priggen studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University from 1975 , which he completed in 1983 with a degree in engineering . From 1983 to 1991 he worked in a medium-sized company in special refrigeration engineering in Bad Salzuflen . From 1992 to 1994 he worked on the environmental committee and supervisory board of the waste management company in Aachen.

Political career

Priggen has been a member of the Greens since 1984. As a local politician he was active in the district council of the Lippe district and in the Lippe regional association . From 1994 to 2000 he was the spokesman for the North Rhine-Westphalia regional association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . Priggen belongs to the political wing of his party.

Reiner Priggen was a member of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from June 2, 2000 to May 31, 2017 , where he was deputy parliamentary group chairman , economic and energy policy spokesman for his group until 2010 . In addition, he was chairman of the commission of inquiry . On the impact of rising oil and gas prices From 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the coalition committee of the red-green state government.

From July 14, 2010 to March 1, 2015 he was parliamentary group leader of the Greens in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia.

From 2015 to 2017 Priggen was the spokesman for economic, medium-sized and handicraft policy for the Green Group.

He did not run for the NRW state election in May 2017.

Reiner Priggen was elected to the board of the regional association for renewable energies NRW e. V. (LEE NRW) was unanimously elected as the new CEO on December 6, 2016. The LEE NRW is the lobby organization primarily for the wind power industry, the solar industry and associated companies. In this role, he advocates the construction of wind turbines in commercial forests.

Reiner Priggen is married to the Green politician Gisela Nacken , has two children and lives in Aachen.
