Prof. Wilhelm Ring 16

The country house in Prof.-Wilhelm-Ring 16 was the first individual design on behalf of a customer that the architects Schilling & Graebner built in the villa colony of Altfriedstein . It is located in the Niederlößnitz district of the Saxon city of Radebeul . In the years 1933/1934 it was increased from one storey to two storeys and greatly changed.

description

That along with its retaining wall and wrought iron fence under monument protection standing villa stands high above a dry stone retaining wall, the wooden entrance gate is in a rising staircase. Today's two-storey building has a basement and a hipped roof . A striking feature of the south-facing street view is a wood-framed balcony in front of the central triple-dome window. An Art Nouveau plant trellis can be found under the balcony.

In the left side view, the undivided plastered building has a single-storey bay window with a mighty eaves; in the right-hand view there is a two-storey veranda ; the entrance porch is on the back.

history

View of Villa Prof. Wilhelm Ring 16, 1905/1906

The road, which was handed over to the Niederlößnitz community as Brühlstraße in 1903, opens up part of the steep slopes of the former winery in its course from Moritzburger Straße through the former courtyard of the Altfriedstein manor to the turning hammer in front of Villa Schwarze ( Prof. Wilhelm Ring 26) . As a result, the north side had to be intercepted by a high retaining wall facing the street, which intercepts the building sites there high above the heads of passers-by.

In 1903, the architects Schilling & Graebner designed a single-storey country house with a large attic on behalf of a customer. On the slope side facing the street there was a large dwelling above the balcony there .

Between 1933 and 1934 the building was topped up with a second full floor and a new roof.
