prehistory

The country school home Grovesmühle is in the tradition of the first Hermann Lietz schools and is a member of the Association of Country Education Centers . It was founded on April 28, 1914 by the pedagogue Hermann Lietz as a country orphanage Grovesmühle in the buildings of a former paper mill .

In 1935 the rural orphanage was closed and instead the school was expanded to accommodate and teach the lower school students from the rural education centers. In 1953, however, the educational reform work of the rural orphanage could no longer be continued after the teachings of Hermann Lietz in the GDR and the facility was closed. In 1995 it was reopened by Gert-Ulrich Buurman .
