The Lanz Peak is a 1570 m high mountain peak in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 16 km north-northwest of Mount Weems from a group of three peaks facing northeast-southwest on the northern edge of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth discovered him on his transantarctic flight on November 23, 1935. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1961 after Walter G. John Lanz (1907-2000), radio operator on three Antarctic expeditions of Ellsworth between 1933 and 1936.
