course

The Lappbach rises below the Gsieser Törl (2205 m) in a high valley of the Villgrater Mountains between the Deferegger Pfannhorn in the west and the Plankfeld in the east. It then flows in a northerly direction through alpine terrain, taking in smaller source streams. At around 1950 meters above sea level, the Lappbach begins to turn in a curve to the east, where it flows through wooded area and to the south past the Lappbachalm. After that, the Blindisbach, coming from the south, flows in around 1630 meters above sea level on the right-hand side and has a catchment area of 1.6 m². After the confluence, the Lappbach continues to flow in a north-easterly direction until it enters the Defereggental. Here it passes the Pötsch settlement to the east just before the mouth and flows into the Schwarzach shortly afterwards to the west of Rinderschinken.
