biography

Laramie Eppler grew up in Iowa Park , Texas. He accompanied friends to a recall casting for Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life (2011), where he was discovered. The film tells the story of three brothers who grew up in the American Midwest in the 1950s and were confronted with different attitudes towards life from their parents (played by Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt ).

The casting, which took a year, had over 10,000 children from Texas and Oklahoma . For the part of the eldest son Jack, who is played in adulthood by Sean Penn , a decision was made between twelve candidates who were invited to Austin, Texas . Although Eppler lost the part to Hunter McCracken , he was hired as film brothers with the likewise favored Tye Sheridan . He was selected for the role of middle brother RL. The child actors and their parents were only shown the framework, not the exact script, as they were supposed to act as naturally as possible. Eppler, who is inexperienced as an actor, received praise from specialist reviews along with McCracken and Sheridan. The American industry service Variety rated Sheridan and Eppler as "wonderfully authentic" .

Eppler is currently attending WF George Middle School in his hometown of Iowa Park. In addition to sports such as rodeo , he works with the agricultural youth organization Junior FFA , where he exhibits goats , among other things .
