Laredo is a city in Spain . It has 11,025 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) and an area of 13 km².
Laredo is located on one of the most beautiful bays in Cantabria . Laredo is 44 km from Santander and 52 km from Bilbao and, thanks to its convenient location, is an important tourist attraction for many Spaniards, Madrilenians, but also Basques .
The beach promenade of Laredo is the longest beach in Cantabria at four kilometers . It has been awarded the Bandera Azul , the blue flag, which is the best water quality and cleanliness of the beach.
Laredo has a very impressive historic old town from the 16th century.
The most important festival of the year is the Batalla de Flores in August - a parade of floats decorated with flowers, almost reminiscent of a carnival parade .
