Larry Burton (actually Lawrence Godfrey Burton; born December 15, 1951 in Hampton , Virginia ) is a retired American sprinter and American football player .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , he was fourth over 200 m .
Over the same distance, he was for the 1972 Purdue University starting NCAA -Master.
After his track and field career he played in the National Football League from 1975 to 1977 for the New Orleans Saints and from 1978 to 1979 for the San Diego Chargers as a wide receiver .
