Larry Campbell (2005)

Larry Campbell (* 21st February 1955 in New York City ) is an American musician and producer who many stringed instruments such as guitar , mandolin , pedal steel guitar and violin in genres like country music , folk , blues and rock music plays .

Campbell was best known for his work with Bob Dylan , which lasted from early 1997 to late 2004. During this time Campbell was not only an important part of Dylan's live band, but also a musician on the 2001 studio album "Love and Theft" and the 2003 Dylan film Masked and Anonymous . Dylan needed two musicians to make Campbell to replace.

In 2005, Campbell performed live with Elvis Costello and the Imposters and Emmylou Harris . He also released his first solo album Rooftops , on which he plays solo acoustic guitar.

In 2006 Campbell played with Phil Lesh and Friends , and has been a regular member of the group ever since. He is also an integral part of Levon Helms Midnight Rambles . Campbell also went on a US tour with a helmet. In 2007 Campbell and his wife Teresa Williams received a Grammy for Levon Helms album Dirt Farmer . Campbell co-produced the recordings with Helm's daughter Amy; he also produced the folk band Ollabelle's album Riverside Battle Songs .

On September 18, 2008, Campbell received the Lifetime Achievement ~ Instrumentalist Award at the 7th Annual Americana Music Association Honors and Awards Show .

In 2009 Larry Campbell u. a. also involved in the record sessions in New York for the album "Williamsburg" by Marius Müller-Westernhagen.

He played pedal street guitar on two songs on Rich Robinson's album Through A Crooked Sun , which was released in Europe in spring 2012.
