Larry Donnel Drew (born April 2, 1958 in Kansas City , Kansas ) is a retired American basketball player and current assistant coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA .

Drew played 10 NBA seasons in his career, plus one season in Italy. His best season was the 1982/83 season , in which he recorded around 20 points and 8 assists per game. After his career, he served as an assistant coach at various clubs before becoming head coach of the Atlanta Hawks in the 2010/11 season .

In 2013, his contract with the Hawks expired and he was signed by the Milwaukee Bucks , which is his eighth NBA station. For the 2014/2015 season, Drew was relieved of his duties by the new owners of the Bucks. He has been an assistant coach at the Cleveland Cavaliers since the 2014/2015 season . On November 6, 2018, Drew was named successor to Tyronn Lue after starting the season with 0 wins and 6 losses .
