Lars EO Svensson

Lars Erik Oskar Svensson (* 1947 in Örnsköldsvik , Sweden ) is a Swedish economist and professor of economics at Stockholm University . His research areas are macroeconomics , international trade, and monetary economics. He is also Vice Chairman of the Swedish Central Bank.

Life

The economist received his Ph. D. in 1976 at Stockholm University , where he still teaches international economics. After 21 guest research and teaching positions at universities and central banks in the USA , Israel , Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s and 1990s, the Swede was also Professor of Economics at Princeton University from 2001 to 2007 . The economist has been Vice Chairman of the Swedish Central Bank since 2007. According to the IDEAS ranking, Svensson is one of the most cited economists worldwide. In 1989 he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and in 1992 of the Academia Europaea . He has been an external member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences since 1998 and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 2000 .
