Lars Karl Jensen

Lars Karl Jensen (born December 31, 1949 in Qeqertarsuaq ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ), sailor , teacher and author .

He is the son of the fisherman Peter Jensen († 1956) and his wife Juliane Hansen. On June 25, 1972, he married the office assistant Susanne Siegstad (* 1950).

From 1964 to 1970 he worked as a seaman and chamberlain for Den Kongelige Grønlandske Handel . In 1971 he completed a one-year training course at the skipper school in Nuuk and then worked for four years as a helmsman. He then became an assistant at the school and was a subject teacher there from 1977 to 1980. He switched to the fishing school in Paamiut and was a departmental teacher from 1980 to 1981, then a school inspector for a year and headmaster since 1982.

He was elected to Inatsisartut in 1995 and re-elected in 1999. From 2001 to 2005 he was mayor of Qeqertarsuaq Municipality . In June 2005 he became chairman of KANUKOKA , the Greenlandic community association. He gave up the post to Karl Lyberth in April 2006 after a cerebral hemorrhage , but returned to the post in July and resigned for good in May 2007.
