Political career

In 1994 Pochnicht joined the SPD. From 2001 to 2004 and 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the district assembly in the Wandsbek district . There he was chairman of the committee for economy, transport and tourism. He also worked as an employee in the office of the MP Ole Thorben Buschhüter . From 2006 to 2008 he was a member of the deputation of the Ministry of the Interior.

In the Hamburg state election in 2008 , Pochnicht ran for the SPD in the Bramfeld-Farmsen-Berne constituency . With 3.8 percent of the vote, however, he did not succeed in joining the citizenship.

In the state elections in Hamburg in 2011 , he ran again in constituency 12, but this time too 4.1 percent of the votes were not enough for him to enter parliament. However, since the newly elected Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholz resigned his Bundestag mandate due to his election, Ingo Egloff, member of the Bundestag , moved up to the German Bundestag . For this, Pochnicht then moved into the Hamburg citizenship on March 11, 2011 .

In the 2015 mayor elections , he returned to the citizenry through a direct mandate in the Bramfeld-Farmsen-Berne constituency.

On February 23, 2020, Pochnicht again succeeded in moving into the Hamburg citizenship .
