Larysa Kuzmenko
Larysa Kuzmenko (born January 23, 1956 ) is a Canadian composer and pianist.
Life
Kuzmenko studied piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music with Kenneth Harrison , Clifford Poole , Samuel Dolin and Boris Lysenko and from 1979 to 1981 composition with Dolin, Oskar Morawetz and Walter Buczynski at the University of Toronto . She has taught at the Royal Conservatory since 1996 and at the University of Toronto since 2004.
Kuzmenko has performed as a pianist since 1972, and since 1980 as a concert pianist, mainly with virtuoso works by romantic and late romantic composers such as Sergei Rachmaninov . She received composition commissions a. a. from the Royal Canadian College of Organists , the CBC, and the Ontario Arts Council . In 2010 she was Senior Festival Composer at the North York Music Festival . Christina Petrowska premiered and recorded many of her piano compositions .
