The Larz Anderson Park is a nearly 25-hectare park in Massachusetts in the United States , which refers to the urban areas of Boston and Brookline extends. It was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 as a Historic District . Due to its proximity to Jamaica Pond , the park is often viewed as an extension of the Emerald Necklace to Brookline.

Today's park has served as an agricultural area since the 17th century and at the end of the 19th century formed the surrounding property of a 25-room property, which was modeled on Lulworth Castle and belonged to the namesake Larz Anderson . However, it had to be demolished in 1955 due to dilapidation. On the other hand, there is still a part of the Andersons automobile collection, which can be viewed in the Larz Anderson Auto Museum . The school museum Putterham School from 1796 is also located on the park grounds .
Various sports facilities and an ice rink are embedded in a landscape of green spaces, lakes and trees . There is also a natural aquarium , a Chinese , Japanese and an Italian garden, and a bowling green . The Boston skyline is visible from the highest point in the park , and its open layout makes it very popular with kite surfers .
