The Las Mercedes district is one of the 15 districts of the Guárico state in Venezuela . The administrative headquarters are in Las Mercedes . The area is 7,691 km² . The population is ( 2010 estimates) around 31,825. The district ( Municipio ) is made up of 3 parroquias: Cabruta, Santa Rita de Manapire and Las Mercedes.
Since 2006, the Puente Mercosur , a bridge between Cabruta , in the district on the northern bank of the Orinoco and Caicara del Orinoco , in the state of Bolívar , has been under construction.
