history

Previously, the Aviators were under different names and in different locations already eleven other baseball - franchises .

In particular, these were from 1919 to 1972 under the name Portland Beavers the St. Louis Cardinals (1961), the Kansas City Athletics (1962-1963), the Cleveland Indians (1964-1969), the Milwaukee Brewers (1970), Minnesota Twins (1971) and then again the Cleveland Indians (1972). At the time, the club was based in Portland , Oregon , but moved to Spokane , Washington state in 1973 . Under the new name Spokane Indians one changed again several times the Major League membership, so that up to and including 1982 the Texas Rangers (1973-1975), again the Milwaukee Brewers (1976-1988), the Seattle Mariners (1979-1981) and finally the California Angels (1982) were responsible.

In 1983 the club moved to Las Vegas , Nevada , where it was part of the San Diego Padres organization from 1983 to 2000 under the name Las Vegas Stars . The Los Angeles Dodgers took over the team from 2001 to 2008 and the name Las Vegas 51s was born. Before the Mets took over the team in 2013, it was part of the Toronto Blue Jays (2009–2012). The team has been a Triple A affiliate of Oakland Athletics since October 2018 , and the team then renamed itself Las Vegas Aviators. The Aviators opened the new Las Vegas Ballpark in the suburb of Summerlin in 2019.
