Last Night a DJ Saved My Life is a 1982 song by Indeep , written by Michael Cleveland and featured on the album of the same name .
The song is told from the perspective of a bored girl who feels saved by a good playlist of a radio DJ. The release took place on February 15, 1982. The title reached number 10 in the US R&B charts and number 2 in the US dance charts. It was only just under a year later that the single was also successful outside the United States and was in Belgium a number one hit . Last Night a DJ Saved My Life received a lot of positive reviews, according to Rolling Stone : "One of the best songs about a girl who listens to the radio."
In the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City , the song is played by the fictional radio station Fever 105 . It was also used in the film Cashback .
