The Laternula Inlet is a bay on the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . In the Vestfold Mountains, it is located on the banks of the Mule Peninsula immediately west of Laternula Lake .
A team of geologists and biologists visited them between January and February 1972 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . They named it based on the name of the neighboring lake. This is named after the shells of Laternula elliptica found here , a species of Antarctic clam .
