Olivier Latry (born February 22, 1962 in Boulogne-sur-Mer ) is a French organist , improviser and music teacher. Since 1985 he has been one of three titular organists at the Great Organ of the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral .

Life

Olivier Latry started playing the piano at the age of 7 and learned the organ from the age of 12. From 1981 to 1985 he worked as an organist at the cathedral in Meaux . After his training, Latry worked as an assistant in the organ class of Michel Chapuis at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris . In 1990 he took over the organ class of his teacher Gaston Litaize at the Conservatoire in St. Maur-des-Fossés , and in 1995 he followed in Chapuis' footsteps in Paris. In 1985, together with Philippe Lefebvre , Jean-Pierre Leguay and Yves Devernay , he was appointed titular organist at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. In the 2017/18 concert season, Olivier Latry was the palace organist on the new Eule organ in the Kulturpalast Dresden .

Latry is married.
