Lauksargiai ( German Laugszargen ) is a village in the Tauragė district of Lithuania . The place is the center of the district (Seniūnija) Lauksargiai and belongs to the Rajongemeinde Tauragė .
Geographical location
Lauksargiai is located in the southwest of Lithuania , in the former Memelland , about eight kilometers southwest of the municipality of Tauragė .
history
In 1874 the place (apparently) became the seat of an administrative district in the (rural) district of Tilsit . In 1920 it was incorporated into the Pogegen district (lit. Pagėgių apskritis). From 1939 to 1944 the place belonged to the district of Tilsit-Ragnit .
After being incorporated into the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic , Lauksargiai belonged to the municipality (lit. valsčius) Piktupėnai until 1950 . After that, the place became the seat of a district (lit. apylinkė). In 1954 this was connected to the Grežpelkiai district , which was moved (again) to Lauksargiai in 1961. Until its dissolution in 1962, the place belonged to the Rajon Pagėgiai and then to the Rajon Tauragė . Since 1995 Lauksargiai has been the seat of an administrative district.

The Magistralinis kelias A12 runs through the place, which connects the Russian- Lithuanian border crossing Sowetsk / Panemunė with the Lithuanian- Latvian border crossing at Plikiškiai (part of the European route 77 ). Lauksargiai also has a train station on the railway line from Pagėgiai to Radviliškis , which is currently not served.

Evangelical Lutheran Church
The Evangelical Lutheran congregation of Laugszargen was founded in 1864 and the church was consecrated in 1887. It was destroyed during the First World War and rebuilt in 1924.
Lauksargiai district
The Lauksargių seniūnija, which belongs to the Rajongemeinde Tauragė , has existed since 1995 . In the district there are 16 villages with a total of 1271 inhabitants on an area of 63.9 km² (status 2011). The district has been divided into the three subdistricts (lit. Seniūnaitija) Grežpelkių seniūnaitija, Lauksargių seniūnaitija and Šakių seniūnaitija since 2009. The district includes:
