Laura prince

Laura Fürst (born April 23, 1991 in Munich ) is a German wheelchair basketball player .

Life

On March 8, 2008, while she was a 16-year-old exchange student in Petoskey , Michigan , she had an accident with a snowmobile near Pleasantview Township, Michigan, and suffered, among other things, incomplete paraplegia .

Back in Germany, Fürst was familiarized with wheelchair basketball as part of the rehabilitation at the Murnau Accident Clinic . She started playing for SV Reha Augsburg and USC Munich . In 2011 she played with the German national team at the World Championships in St. Catharines , Ontario . The following year she was involved in beating Sweden at the European Championships in Stoke Mandeville , England .

Fürst studied physical engineering at the University of Wisconsin on the Whitewater campus from 2012-2013 and played for the university's Warhawks . In June 2014, Fürst played in the German team at the World Cup in Toronto , which won the silver medal in the final against Canada.

At the Paralympic Games in 2016, she and her team reached 2nd place and won a silver medal. For this success, she and her team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on November 1, 2016.

Prince studied at the Technical University of Munich the Master of Mechanical Engineering .
