Laura Winkler (* 1988 in Graz ) is an Austrian jazz singer and composer .

Live and act

Winkler studied singing (also jazz ) at the Kunstuniversität Graz with Dena de Rose, graduating in 2011. She then studied composition in Graz and at the Berlin University of the Arts (with John Hollenbeck and Greg Cohen ), which she graduated in 2012 . During her studies she was a member of the Jazzwerkstatt Graz and in local jazz projects. In 2008 her debut album aura: L sculptures (Sessionwork Records) was released with her own compositions. She has lived in Berlin since 2012, where she founded the jazz-folk-pop band Holler My Dear , with which she recorded the CDs Have You Seen the Troll? and Eat, Drink & Be Merry (both Traumton Records), and the Wabi-Sabi Orchestra (a 12-piece big band with strings), with whom she released Paperclips (Traumton Records) in 2014 . She also sings in Max Andrzejewskis Hütte and in Ensemble O. with the singers Friederike Merz , Zola Mennenöh and Dora Osterloh . She worked as an arranger and composer for the Metropole Orkest , Ricciotti Ensemble and the Graz Composers Orchestra, among others .
