Friederike Merz

Friederike Merz (* 1987 in Karlsruhe as Friederike Meuth ) is a German jazz musician (vocals, composition).

Merz first studied school music with the subjects of classical singing and piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim with Katharina Kutsch, in order to complete a bachelor's degree from 2006 to 2011 at the Jazz Institute Berlin with Judy Niemack and John Hollenbeck after the state examination . During this time she continued her classical training with Britta Schwarz at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy.

During her studies in Mannheim she sang in the Saarbrücken Chamber Choir. With her band Friede Merz (to which Johannes von Ballestrem , Paul Santner and Fabian Rösch belonged) she received funding from the Berlin Senate in 2015 for the recording and production of her album Denmark Street . In addition, she worked with Max Andrzejewskis Hütte & Chor, the Fabiana Striffler Trio, the a cappella ensemble Klang District , the James Banner Group, with Simon Kanzler's Nodia Es and her duo with guitarist Bertram Burkert .

She also sings in Ensemble O. with the singers Zola Mennenöh , Dora Osterloh and Laura Winkler .
