The unfinished prefabricated house (original title: The Finishing Touch , in German  "The final touch" ) is an American silent film comedy by the comedian duo Laurel & Hardy . The film premiered on February 25, 1928. When it was first shown in German cinemas, presumably in 1929 , it had the alternative title The Ideal Weekend House .

action

Stan and Ollie are given the job of building a prefabricated house for $ 500 . Because of their clumsiness, they encounter a number of obstacles: Sometimes they make too much noise so that the nurse at the hospital opposite causes trouble, sometimes they stand in each other's way and hinder each other and sometimes they also have problems with a police officer.

Ultimately, despite all the efforts, they can finish the house, the client gives them their money and everything seems fine. Until a bird sits down on the chimney and causes it to collapse, so that it knocks a hole in the roof, which results in some windows splintering and the railing of the veranda breaking. The client demands his money back, but Stan and Ollie refuse. There is a big dispute about the money, which the client ultimately decides for himself. But that's not all, he also gives Stan a kick. Another argument follows, which consists of "slingshots". When Stan and Ollie take a large rock without realizing that it had been holding the truck on the mountain until then, which would otherwise have rolled into the middle of the house on the sloping surface, that is exactly what happens. In the last scene, Stan lets who had held the stone in his hand, it would fall on Ollie's foot; however, the latter takes revenge and deliberately does the same.

Others

  • The house, spoiled by Stan and Ollie, was built by craftsmen from Hal Roach Studios on vacant lot on Motor Avenue near Fox Studios .
  • Actually, the house was supposed to be destroyed in the end, with the boys driving their truck right through it and leaving a gaping gap. But since the craftsmen didn't follow the building instructions, the final gag went wrong and the truck got stuck in the middle of the house. Stan took it calmly and said: "Maybe it's funnier that way!"
