Laurence Equilbey (born March 6, 1962 in Paris ) is a French conductor and choir director .

Live and act

Laurence Equilbey began her studies in Paris and continued them in Vienna, among others with Nikolaus Harnoncourt . In Stockholm she studied with the well-known choir director Eric Ericson and with Jorma Panula , then she studied under Colin Metters in London.

In 1991 she founded the Accentus chamber choir in Paris , with which she enjoyed great success with audiences with a repertoire ranging from a cappella music from the 18th century to contemporary music. She has worked with numerous orchestras for oratorios and opera performances. Her preferred partners include the Orchester de Chambre de Paris and the Orchestra of the Rouen Opera . The orchestras and choirs from the German-speaking area who have performed under her leadership include the Concerto Köln , the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the RIAS Chamber Choir . She conducted the Camerata Salzburg for the first time in July 2012, on the occasion of her debut at the Salzburg Festival , among other works the premiere of Infin che 'l mar fu sovra noi richiuso by the Austrian composer Johannes Maria Staud was on the program.

In 2012, in order to better meet her own demands, she founded the Insula Orchestra , which plays on the historical instruments required in each case.
