Laurence Humphrey
Laurence Humphrey (* 1527 in Newport Pagnell , Buckinghamshire , † February 1, 1590 in Oxford ) was a Puritan theologian .
Laurence Humphrey studied at Oxford and Cambridge . After Maria I ascended to the throne and the recatholicization in England that began with it, Humphrey fled to Zurich and Basel . There he was in close contact with John Jewel and John Parkhurst . In 1558, after the Queen's death, Laurence Humphrey returned to England. In 1560 he became a professor at Oxford and a year later President of Magdalen College . 1571 Humphrey Dean in Gloucester and 1580 in Winchester .
