Laurent Meyer

Laurent Meyer (born December 9, 1870 in Saar Union , † July 14, 1945 in Strasbourg ) was a German politician ( SPD Alsace-Lorraine ).

Laurent Meyer trained as a carpenter after graduating from elementary school . Until 1906 he worked as a carpenter journeyman. From 1897 to 1918 he was chairman of the branch of the woodworkers' union in Strasbourg. From July 1906 to 1918 he was an employee of the woodworkers' union in Strasbourg.

Laurent Meyer was a member of the Strasbourg municipal council from 1905 to 1908. From 1911 to 1918 he was a member of the second chamber of the Landtag of the Reichsland Alsace-Lorraine for the SPD for the constituency of Markirch-Schnierlach .

Since 1898 he ran unsuccessfully for the SPD in every Reichstag election.

After Alsace became French again, he became a member of the socialist party SFIO in 1918 . He was a sécretaire de syndicat union and adjoint au maire (1919), conseiller municipal and président du conseil d'administration des Hospices Civils in Strasbourg and conseiller général du Bas-Rhin politically active.
