Laurent Spinosi (born December 20, 1969 in Marseille ) is a former French football goalkeeper and current coaching assistant .

Player career

Laurent Spinosi played from 1987 to 1994 for the French amateur club US Marseille Endoume. He then moved to the local top club Olympique Marseille , which was, however, in a deep crisis at that time. In the year of the move, Marseille had to be relegated to Ligue 2 . Despite the immediately following championship in the second division Spinosis club was not allowed to rise because of its financial problems. In the following year, the second place in the table and the lifting of the promotion ban. Laurent Spinosi was part of the first division squad until 1998, but was never able to prevail against the established goalkeepers Fabien Barthez , Jérôme Alonzo or Andreas Köpke . After the commitment of Stéphane Porato and Stéphane Trévisan , he only played in the reserve team of Marseille until 2000 and already took on his first coaching duties in the goalkeeping area. In the 2003/04 season he played again for his former club US Marseille Endoume.

Coaching career

Laurent Spinosi was already taking care of the young goalkeepers at Olympique Marseille at the end of the 1990s and trained the talent of Cédric Carrasso , among others . In 2004 he was introduced as the official goalkeeping coach and has since trained well-known goalkeepers such as Fabien Barthez and Steve Mandanda . Shortly before the World Cup , the Frenchman was signed by the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football for the Ivory Coast national team in May 2010 . Since 2012 he has been a goalkeeping coach in Marseille again.
