Lavoriškės ( Polish Ławaryszki , Belarusian Лаваришкі , Russian Лаворишкес ) is a village in the district of Vilnius in Lithuania . The village with a population of 621 (as of 2011) is located east of Vilnius and borders Belarus in the east .

location

Lavoriškės is located about 25 kilometers east of Vilnius and about eight kilometers west of the border with Belarus. Surrounding villages are Mostiškės in the north, lying already in Belarus Kotlowka the east, Petruliškės the southeast, Kena in the south, Skaisteriai in the southwest and Uosininkai in the West.

Lavoriškės is located on Krašto kelias 103. North-east of the village is the Baravykinės kraštovaizdžio draustinis nature reserve (Baravykė Landscape Reserve).

history

Lavoriškės was first mentioned in 1523. In the 16th and 17th centuries, iron was mined near the village . There was also a paper mill in town. In 1642 a wooden church was built in Lavoriškės , which was destroyed during the Russo-Polish War in 1655. In 1775 a new church was built. A new church was built between 1899 and 1906.

Lavoriškės burned down completely during the Russo-Polish War in 1655. The village was then rebuilt, at the same time there was a school in the village for the first time. In 1919 a new elementary school with four classes was built. Starting in 1937, around 100 schools were built in the entire district of Vilnius in honor of the Polish marshal Józef Piłsudski , including a secondary school in Lavoriškės.

In 1869 there were 17 houses in Lavoriškės. During the First World War there were fights with soldiers of the German Army in the village , the fallen soldiers were buried near the church. In 1931 Lavoriškės had 202 residents who lived in 39 residential buildings. Polish partisans were active in Lavoriškės during the Second World War .

During the time of the Soviet Union , a forced agricultural collective was formed in Lavoriškės , which existed until the collapse of the Soviet Union. On January 27, 1991, the border post at Lavoriškės was destroyed by Soviet forces.

Administrative affiliation

Lavoriškės is the capital of the district of the same name .
