action

The people on the banks of the Danube are threatened by robbery and murder by a gang of criminals. The population is concerned about the incidents. The police have not yet been able to catch the criminals. The detective Karl Dragoch receives from a commission of all Danube countries the order to seize the gang with the help of a special unit.

The fisherman Ilia Brusch, who has won two first prizes in a fishing competition in Sigmaringen , has publicly undertaken to sail the Danube with his dinghy towards the Black Sea and to live exclusively on the proceeds of freshly caught fish. A stranger who pretends to be a tourist named Jäger forces Brusch as a passenger in Ulm. The freedom fighter Serge Ladko, who fights against the rule of the Turks in Bulgaria , is mistaken for a criminal who uses his name. The traveling hunter is actually the detective Dragoch and Brusch is the real Ladko. The criminal who uses Ladko's name is actually Striga and controls Ladko's wife on one of his gang's ships. The river pirates are eventually rendered harmless with the help of the real Ladko. He finally finds his beloved wife on board the river pirates' ship.
