Leander Mergener

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leander Mergener (* 1965 in Wuppertal - Elberfeld ) is a German painter, draftsman and printmaker.

Career

Mergener spent his school days and youth in Düsseldorf and Munich.

After graduating from the Theresien-Gymnasium in Munich in 1985 , Mergener became a student of the painter, sculptor and graphic artist Hansjörg Wagner in 1987 . Mergener learned the artistic gravure printing techniques as part of a traineeship in Lothar Becker's copper printing works, Ottobrunn.

After moving to Essen in 1990, an intensive occupation with the industrial world of work and things developed as an artistic theme. In exhibitions in the following years, industrial subjects were regularly related to other subject areas. Industrial phenomena, landscape, still life, interior, animal drawings, illustration for literature and impressions from trips make up the spectrum of topics of Mergener. The clarity of the picture is its yardstick. The artist opens up his subjects through sketches and studies directly in front of nature.

Mergener has lived in Krefeld since 2003 .

Quote

“My artistic work has its origin in what my eye conveys to me. My work draws its themes from what seeing conveys to me, what becomes experience. The design of my topics finds its support in close observation of visible reality. "
