LeasePlan Germany GmbH

LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH is a 100 percent subsidiary of the Dutch LeasePlan Corporation NV from Amsterdam . LeasePlan Germany currently has branches in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main, Stuttgart and Munich. LeasePlan is a member of the Federal Association of German Leasing Companies .

founding

LeasePlan Beteiligungs- und Leasinggesellschaft mbH was founded in 1973 as the third subsidiary of ABN AMRO Lease Holding NV in Düsseldorf . In cooperation with two employees, the then managing director Hans Lützenkirchen began to establish the company in the equipment leasing sector.

Differentiation and expansion

In the course of the following years, the company grew steadily, began to differentiate itself into different departments and founded new branches of the company, such as the LeasePlan insurance brokerage company in 1978. In 1980 LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH was founded with a focus on equipment leasing and fleet management . The 1987 constitution of TravelCard Deutschland GmbH as a provider of service credit cards represents a further expansion . In order to cope with the growing number of employees and vehicles, LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH changed location in 1988 and moved to Neuss . Since 2018 the German headquarters of LeasePlan has been back in Düsseldorf. The company moved into offices in Düsseldorf's Medienhafen. Further branches were founded in Hamburg , Frankfurt am Main and Stuttgart in 1991 .

Fleet management becomes a core task

From the 1990s onwards, restructuring was increased. In 1996, TravelCard Deutschland GmbH and LeasePlan Beteiligungs- und Leasinggesellschaft mbH were merged to form TravelCard Deutschland GmbH accounting systems and sales and customer service were established as separate areas. Four years later, the LeasePlan Group carried out a re-branding to further consolidate the international positioning of the LeasePlan brand. The equipment leasing area was sold and fleet leasing and management were henceforth defined as a core task.

In 1996 LeasePlan was the first brand-independent vehicle fleet management company in Germany to be certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 . The company received the seal of approval again in 1999. Further re-certifications followed in 2002, 2005 and 2008 according to the new standard DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000 and DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008, which have since been further developed by TÜV. The LeasePlan vehicle assessment system for assessing vehicles after the end of the contract was awarded the "Fair Vehicle Assessment" certificate by RWTÜV Anlagentechnik GmbH in 2001. In 2008 “LeasePlan Beteiligungs- und Leasinggesellschaft mbH” was renamed LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH.

e-Tools, environmental protection and a brand for the small fleet segment

In 2002 and 2003, LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH developed internet communication tools for fleet managers and drivers, the e-Manager and e-Driver programs. With new shareholders and the new managing director Johan Friman, LeasePlan Deutschland GmbH began in 2006 as one of the first vehicle fleet management companies to integrate the topic of environmental protection into their consulting concept. In 2008 LeasePlan Germany became a member of the EU expert commission FLEAT (Fleet Environmental Action & AssessmenT), which had set itself the goal of developing a catalog of recommendations for environmental initiatives in vehicle fleets for the EU over a period of two years .
