Lebowakgomo ( Lebowa-Kgoma ) is a town in the local community of Lepelle-Nkumpi , Capricorn District , Limpopo Province in South Africa . It was the capital of the former homeland Lebowa . It is the seat of the local church and is 57 kilometers from Polokwane .

In 1974 the city was established as the capital for Lebowa. Previously, the administration of the Homelands was located at the provisional administration site in Seshego . When it was founded, it only had 115 residents. That is why the city was promoted in the 1980s and grew accordingly. As of the 2011 census, Lebowakgomo had 35,087 residents.

There is a small hospital in the village.

Today the seat of the Limpopo Legislature and its administration is located here . The area is called the Government Complex (German: " Government Complex ") and is located northeast of the town center in an otherwise undeveloped area. In the outskirts there is a small group of buildings that includes the Old Lebowa Parliament Building and serves the interior authorities and the tax and customs office (SARS) of the province. The complex has its own access road, which branches off from regional road 579 coming from the north.
