Seshego is a city in the Limpopo province of South Africa . It is located in the local municipality of Polokwane in the Capricorn district .
geography
In 2011 Seshego had 83,863 inhabitants (2011 census). The city is divided into zones. To the northwest is the Makgofe settlement, immediately southeast of the municipality's administrative seat, Polokwane . On the western edge of the town is the Seshego Dam, which is fed by the Motlautsi. 84.5% of the population speak Sepedi as their first language .
history
Seshego was founded as a township for the nearby Pietersburg (now Polokwane). The name stands for a "silo in which grain is stored". 1972 to 1974 Seshego was the provisional capital of the Lebowa homeland .
Economy and Transport
There are food and tobacco companies in Seshego. Many residents work in Polokwane.
East of Seshego leads the trunk road R521, which connects Polokwane with the border crossing Pontdrif on Limpopo in the north, through the city runs the R567, which leads from Polokwane through Seshego westwards to the N11 .
