Alex Scorier

Alex Scorier (born June 6, 1931 in Ottignies ) is a Belgian jazz musician ( saxophone , flute ).

Live and act

Scorier learned saxophone and flute in Ixelle and from 1949 studied bassoon at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. In 1951 he won the Hot Club of Belgium competition; that same year he played for Jack Sels . In 1952 he founded his first big band , in which Jay Cameron , Slide Hampton and Jimmy Gourley also played. From 1954 to 1956 he was a member of the orchestras of Fred Bunge and Werner Müller and the band of Fud Candrix . In Belgium he performed a. a. with guest musicians such as Buck Clayton , Taps Miller , Bill Coleman , Clark Terry , Steve Lacy , Ernie Wilkins , Richard Boone and Don Byas , and in Hamburg with Duke Ellington . From 1964 to 1991 he was a member of the BRT -Bigband of the Belgian radio under the direction of Francis Bay ( The Swingers Back Again , 1971) and Freddy Sunder ; He also played in Marc Moulins formation Placebo from 1973 to 1975 . In later years he led the band Jazz Friends , which included Herman Sandy , Roger Asselberghs , Robert Pernet , Pierre Bochner , Grégoire Perilleux and Daniel Zanello .
