description

Lecidella elaeochroma is a crusty lichen, that is, its bed ( thallus ) lies close to the base. The camp is whitish, gray, gray-green, olive or yellowish. Often it is also damaged by snail damage and then greenish. The structure of the camp is smooth to grainy. It is often slightly shiny or limited by a black template. The camp can sometimes be disorganized . It reaches a diameter of 1 to 3 cm.

The apothecia reach a diameter of between 0.4 and 1.0 mm. Their discs are black to dark red-brown and very rarely frosted. The apothecia are flat to strongly curved and can be deformed. Their edge is black and smooth. Overall, the appearance of this type of lichen is very rich in shape.

distribution

The distribution area extends in Europe from the boreal zone to the Mediterranean area. The lichen has also been detected from North America and from the valleys of the Altai Mountains.

The lichen grows mainly on smooth bark (mainly on common ash , walnut and hornbeam ). It is found both in forests and on free-standing deciduous trees and is quite common.
