Lee "Life" Seung-hyun (born January 11, 1997 ) is a professional South Korean esportsman in the computer game StarCraft 2 .
Career
Lee Seung-hyun drew attention to himself at the beginning of his Starcraft 2 career through his young age, combined with his promising achievements. His first publicly broadcast game was in the course of the 2012 GSTL Season 1 (Team League) for his then team ZeNEX. This made him the third-youngest player to be seen in a publicly broadcast game.
But this should only open the impressive year for the young player. He made a name for himself during the Iron Squid Chapter 1 and the IPL Tournament of Champions. He was also able to score an all-kill against Team Liquid in the GSTL Season 2 participation . After ZeNEX was taken over by StarTale in summer 2012, it reached second place at TSL 4. Shortly afterwards, he was able to qualify for Code S via the Up & Down matches and was to become the first player to win the GSL Code S for the first time .
Shortly thereafter, Lee Seung-hyun also won his first international title by winning the 2012 MLG Fall Championship in Dallas. More victories followed, including the GSL Blizzard Cup 2012 and the Intel Extreme Masters Season VIII in New York, as well as a second place at DreamHack Winter 2013.
At the end of 2014, he defeated Terran player Mun "MMA" Seong-won 4: 1 in the final of the World Championship Series Finals at Blizzcon and thus won the main prize endowed with $ 100,000. A few weeks later, he took second place at DreamHack Winter 2014.
In February 2015 he switched to the KT Rolster team . Shortly afterwards he won the GSL for the second time after a 4: 3 final victory over Won "PartinG" Lee-sak . At the end of the year he made it to the final of the WCS Finals at Blizzcon again, but this time lost to Protoss player Kim "sOs" Yoo-jin . At the beginning of 2016 he switched from KT Rolster to Afreeca Freecs.
Betting manipulation scandal
In April 2016, it was officially announced that he had been found guilty of deliberately losing two games in the Kespa Cup for an amount of 70,000,000 won (approximately $ 62,000). Backers had then bet on his defeat. This was not the first incident of its kind in professional StarCraft, shortly before that, the somewhat lesser known players Choi Byeong-Heon (YoDa) and Choi Jong-Hyuk (BBoongBBoong) were convicted of fraud and in StarCraft: Brood War, the predecessor of StarCraft 2, there was another major manipulation scandal that centered on Ma Jae-yoon (sAviOr) .
On July 14, 2016, Life was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment and payment of 70,000,000 won (approximately $ 62,000) by the Changwon District Court.
It was also banned for life by the KeSPA , the South Korean umbrella organization for e-sports, for all professional events.
