Lee Young-ae (* 31 January 1971 in Seoul ) is a South Korean actress .

Life

She became very popular through her roles in television series (especially in Dae Jang Geum ) throughout Asia and is therefore a popular advertising figure. In 2005 she played an almost opposite role as the avenging angel in Park Chan-wook's film Lady Vengeance, which brought her a Blue Dragon Award .

In 2017, after a 12 year hiatus, she starred in the television series Saimdang, Light's Diary .

On August 24, 2009, she married a Korean-American businessman in the United States. She has been the mother of twins since February 20, 2011 ; a boy and a girl.

In 2019, she starred in Kim Seung-woo's film Bring Me Home , which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival . It was her first film appearance in 14 years.
