Lehniner Platz

The Lehniner Platz is located on the southern edge of Berlin local part Charlottenburg in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf . It is located at the intersection of Kurfürstendamm, which runs in east-west direction, with Roscher and Damaschkestrasse in the north and Cicerostrasse in the south. The district of Halensee begins west of Lehniner Platz and the south side of the square belongs to the district of Wilmersdorf .

Lehniner Platz is named after the place Lehnin in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark . The theater of the Schaubühne on Lehniner Platz on the south side of the square, which is part of the listed WOGA complex on Lehniner Platz, is both architecturally and culturally significant .

In the square there is a bus stop of the BVG with the same name, to inter alia, the bus lines M 19 and M29 operate. Since the redesign there has been a boules court and a fountain, which takes up elements of the Schaubühne by Erich Mendelsohn opposite .

The northern part of the square was redesigned from 2011 according to plans by the Berlin landscape architecture office Häfner / Jiménez and released for use in May 2012.
