course
The Leibnigbach rises north of the Leibniger Berg in the Schobergruppe . It initially flows to the west and then performs a semicircular swivel to the south, before flowing further to the west or south. After entering the Iseltal , the Leibnigbach crosses under the Felbertauern Straße (B 108) and then joins the Isel on the left. While the source area and almost the entire course of the river lie in the municipality of St. Johann im Walde, the mouth area is in the municipality of Matrei in East Tyrol. With the exception of the estuary, the course of the river is dominated by wooded areas and has no settlements.
history
For the Leibnigbach, multiple destruction by floods has been documented over the centuries. At the end of the 19th century, especially in 1882 and 1891, there was devastation. In August 1966, too, the Leibnigbach caused severe devastation.
